15 best and worst countries to raise children

Every new father and mother who desires to settle down always think about the best place to raise their children.
This research evaluates 80 countries based on a global perception-based survey and eight country attributes.

The factors considered are human rights, family friendliness, gender equality, happiness, income equality, safety, well-developed public education, and health care system.
The five best places on the continent are:

  1. South Africa
    South has the lowest rates of child marriage in the continent (3.3%)
  2. Morocco
    Morocco has made economic progress since the government decided to pursue privatization and economic reform in the 1980s.
  3. Tanzania
    The life expectancy in Tanzania has improved in recent years.
  4. Tunisia
    Investments in education, infrastructure, and the growing support of women’s rights have made Tunisia a better place for children.
  5. Ghana
    Ghana reportedly spends 6% of its gross domestic product on education, which is among the highest in the world.

The 10 worst African nations for raising children are:

  1. DR Congo
  2. Sierra Leone
  3. Guinea
  4. Nigeria –
    Each year approximately 262,000 babies die at birth, the world’s second-highest national total. Infant mortality currently stands at 69 per 1,000 live births while for under-fives it rises to 128 per 1,000 live births.
  5. Somalia
    Somalia has the world’s highest rate of children who do not live to see their fifth birthday (15%).
  6. South Sudan
    According to the report, South Sudan “has the highest rate of children out of school in the world (67%) and the second-highest rate of displacement globally (31% forcibly displaced). South Sudan is also in the top five for child marriage at 40%.”
